Best Friends

There is nothing scarier than a natural disaster. I have lived in Iowa long enough to consider it home. I was here for the 1993 flood and now the 2008 flood. I have gone to the basement for many tornado warnings and luckily I haven't dealt with major devastation. I hope I never have to. I can't imagine the worry I would have if I didn't know my animals were safe.

Praise goes out to organizations like Best Friends for helping all those in need during the 2008 floods. Best Friends has a whole series of articles on their help with the flood in Oakville, Iowa. It is definitely a must read.

I was shocked when we watched the disaster in New Orleans when people were forced to leave their pets behind. How horrible! I pray that I will never have to make a choice between my safety and the safety of my furry best friends. GB :)

I don't think I could leave my pets. I would be one of those people on tv with my pets watching the water take over.

Or after 9/11 when people couldn't get back to their houses....
