Detach

With the holidays coming up, my good friend Jamie and I have been discussing how to deal with crazy families. I have had a lot of practice (and counseling and medication) over the years so she turned to me for advice. I said, "Detach".
It is easy to fall into the roles we have lived with our whole lives. But it doesn't have to be that way. If you always act the same way then expect the same reaction. And vise versa.
